The environment within the hall is very conducive to helping visitors and service users relax and focus on their chosen activity. The volunteers and service users could not have welcomed me more, with Kathleen giving me a tour of the premises and introducing me to everyone i very quickly felt at ease. Very much looking forward to my next visit and promoting CCVAG services to the Lanarkshire Association for Mental Health staff who i am certain will make best use of the group when their clients are ready for it. Wishing everyone at CCVAG success in the future. JOHN QUINN Social Inclusio Worker LAMH. Posted by on 10 May 2010 Partnership work Glasgow the Caring City charity and CCVAG have been working together for the past 2 years on projects which empower people in our Local and International Community. Thinking locally, about international issues, has been the mantra for Glasgow Caring City over the past decade; what can we do in Scotland which will positively impact upon the lives of those living in crisis overseas. So what has CCVAG been achieving? Simply put, the group have been saving lives. At CCVAG they are focused on empowering people to achieve their full status within their community whilst building the groups capacity to address challenging social issues such as exclusion, education and skills. The group has been producing craft resources such as blankets, baby garments and toys for our critical care hospital units in Burundi & Uganda. Hard to believe that a small project in Lanark is saving the lives of children in Africa? Not for us because CCVAG have a long standing involvement with their community which equips people to face challenges in their daily life. The environment might be different and the people might be of a different culture but the principles remain the same; ethical resources, sustainable support and positive community outcomes. Glasgow the Caring City and CCVAG have been working together for several years to make the best use of skills and volunteers in our community. The services users in Lanark predominantly require additional support. Thanks to the skills of the local volunteer staff, the group provides structure and focus for people living in the community with disability. The same model applies overseas in developing nations. People requiring supports are receiving assistance from volunteers, with the capacity to enable change. You might not know much about CCVAG and their services users but in parts of Africa, their name is quoted as a model of community excellence. In modern times we are more aware of the requirement of everyone in their community and in CCVAG we see a charity organisation which thinks locally about issues in their community and acts global for the benefit of our international community. Just checked out your site for the first time. Didnt realise you worked in partnership with other organisations. Great work you do both for the local community users and those people, worldwide, who benefit from the range of products made by the volunteers. You should all feel very proud of your
work and efforts.
Keep up the good work.
Will pass your site details on.
